World Cup 2026 Roundtable
Tec de Monterrey

The 2026 World Cup hosted by Mexico, Canada, and the U.S. is a lifetime opportunity to explain the North American Way and to take advantage of the power of sports that tends to unite and surpasses nationalities and borders.

While stadiums are already built, other types of infrastructure are required for the World Cup to be successful, mainly border infrastructure. There should be reassessments of further opening trading of goods, interaction of different cultures, and the entertainment sector; soccer seems to be a machinery for internationalizing factors.

We can't miss opportunities due to insufficient planning; we can count on cultural institutions, but we need strategies and for the governments to take advantage of public diplomacy. We need more dialogue, integration, and competitiveness in the region, to build a standard North American identity and take advantage of the World Cup, to strengthen the trilateral region.
